Elmec Engineering has now expanded its after-market Industrial Gas Turbine product support to include:

Natural Gas fuel conversion kits.

The first engines that were converted were a pair of Rolls Royce Avon Mark 1533-75L. Now re-designated as -76G these engines are in service in mobile EAS-1 10MW Gensets. Additionally the control systems were upgraded from standby service to perform as Base Load 24/7 units.

Elmec designed the fuel system with the end user in mind. The conversion can be accomplished in-situ without having to remove the engine. The main fuel manifold is a two piece assembly, allowing on site installation.

Elmec’s fuel nozzles bodies also are unique. The pepperpot tips can be ordered for natural gas or propane fuel. Additionally, the thread size will accommodate the OEM tips as well giving the customer purchasing flexibility.

Integral to any on site conversion is the ability to maneuver around various engine mounting configurations and minimize the necessity of moving off-engine components. Elmec incorporated the flexible fuel lines into its design to help accomplish this.

Elmec Gas Certified Flexible fuel Lines

Prior to delivery each fuel conversion kit is flow tested to ensure uniformity of gas supply to the engine.

Flexibility is also the keynote of the main Fuel Valve Skid. Elmec selected the valve manufactured by Continental Controls Corp of San Diego, California. The valve is programmable to allow changes in acceleration algorithms to suit the customer’s needs. The valve train feeds the main fuel manifold through another flexible gas line allowing for location options to suit the application.

All the components attached to the fuel system are Explosion Proof and all flexible lines are CSA Gas certified. In addition all removable fittings have been micro drilled to be standard wire locked in place.
