The Rolls Royce Industrial Spey gas turbine was one of the company's perennial workhorses with units in service in electric power generation and in oil and gas pipelines. The marine version is still in service in many Navy and commercial vessels. This model is now non-current and no longer receives OEM parts support. Clients with fleets of these engines, are approaching suppliers such as Elmec to manufacture aftermarket parts, in order to keep their engines in service. |
![]() We routinely rebuild full sets of burner components for the Spey. These include the combustor cans, (shown right), The fuel nozzle and the combustor snout. ( Both shown below.) The snout and the burner body are both aftermarket cast components. The snout is an Elmec innovation in that the original OEM parts are all fabricated out of sheet metal. The Elmec part has the advantage in that it may never wear out, a fact borne out through repeated overhaul inspections over the last several years.

| Several examples of the parts machined in our shop are shown left. Many of the parts are in very short supply as the worldwide inventories are depleted.

| The fuel nozzles known as the "pepper pots" were design improved to enhance combustion efficiency. Westcoast Energy routinely orders several sets of these aftermarket parts annually.

Set of Carbon Seals. This is another Elmec aftermarket design improvement to prevent a condition called "nosebleeding" during shutdown, a condition which normally allows up to a gallon of oil to escape when the engine is powered down. |
