Support for the GE LM 1500 Turbines Contact Us

One of the engines to experience obsolescence was the General Electric LM 1500. OEM support for this engine started to wane in 1998, and Elmec was commissioned by Westcoast Energy to manufacture certain components which were unique to this industrial version of the J-79 Aircraft models.

Elmec's aftermarket DS 1st Stage Turbine blade set mounted on the rotor ready for test in the engine. This set together with some other fuel nozzle and combustor modifications produced by S&S Turbine Services will receive a lengthy test in service at one of Westcoast Energy's compressor stations in 2001.

The Inlet Guide Vane hydraulic actuators are unique to the Industrial and Marine versions of the J-79 engines. Elmec casts and machines these assemblies as aftermarket replacement parts for the LM1500, and for Industrial conversion of the aircraft models.

Shown left is the design progression of the fuel nozzle from the original OEM part, through the fuel/air relocation in the combustor can, to the final product cast and machined in house. This innovation has helped produce a proven emissions reduction, making the LM 1500 one of the cleanest engines in service.
